ABOUT KARAIKUDI

Home to the hospitable Nagarathar community, Karaikudi, commonly referred to as Chettinad is a heritage town, which vibrates with the aroma of a celebrated civilization.

The heritage town is lined with palatial houses referred to as bungalows. Most of these houses, dating more than 100 years back are built with limestone, and hence called as Karai Veedu.

The famed Athangudi floor tiles, intricate woodwork, and the immeasurable courtyards will leave with the most persuasive memories of a bygone era.

The oldest structure in the town is the Temple dedicated to Devi Koppudaiya Nayagi, which dates back to the 1800’s
